Project: Rise No. 3

Fort Worth, Texas – 2016

MEP system design for the finish-out of a 3,700-ft2 restaurant. The mechanical system included packaged rooftop units and a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system. kitchen exhaust and make-up air unit. Plumbing systems included tankless water heaters.

Project Challenges to Overcome in Our Design

This project had several challenges including a patio addition that added conditioned square footage to the restaurant.  The patio did not have a roof that would support equipment.  Therefore, we had to serve the patio with a VRF system with condensing units located on the roof of the neighboring building that had a roof with the ability to support equipment.  The patio also featured an open structure that required coordination with the architect to locate the VRF ceiling cassettes in the space where they would make the least visual impact on the open look and feel of the space.

The restaurant and kitchen also had no space for tankless or traditional water heaters so we figured out a way to locate tankless water heaters on a roof parapet in an exterior installation that would not freeze during cold weather and also where the recirculation pump and valves would be accessible by the tenant.
