MEP system design for the finish-out of an AIA award-winning 2000-ft2 coffee shop and cocktail bar. MEP systems included packaged rooftop units.
This project had some challenges associated with routing ductwork from the designated mechanical area to the customer area without a single piece of ductwork being seen from the customer area. In fact, most of the diffusers and return air grilles on this project are not visible in the customer’s normal line of site. The only diffusers visible to the customer are the 1” slots that the architect worked nicely into a dropped ceiling feature. The ductwork fits into a narrow cavity carved out by the architect leading from the units to the dropped ceiling feature. This project is truly a wonderful example of what good communication between engineers and architects can achieve.
