Project: 903 Brewery

Sherman, Texas – 2021

Design of a 25,000-ft2 ground-up brewery including a tap room, kitchen, and restaurant. MEP systems included packaged rooftop units.

This project needed to be served by packaged rooftop units, but the designated mechanical area for rooftop equipment was only about 10% of the total roof area and the space below the roof was almost all exposed structure.  Through some planning, we were able to fit the mechanical equipment including the packaged rooftop units, kitchen exhaust fans, make-up air unit, and refrigeration equipment within the small mechanical area by using a combination of downflow and side discharge rooftop units.  This resulted in a hidden mechanical area where no equipment can be seen from either the ground around the building or the roads near the building.

This project also required a high amount of coordination with the owner to provide for the electrical and plumbing needs of all the brewery equipment.  In order to accomplish this, we visited the owner’s existing facility and documented every connection on every piece of equipment to make sure we had every piece of equipment covered in the new facility.
